Generative AI is changing the world and could leaving you homeless in the near future (don’t worry – I’ll probably be joining you). There has not been a technological boom like this since the 2000s at the inception of the internet or even since sliced bread. But what makes Generative AI so different and special?
Put simply, Generative AI is the ability for AI models to generate new data based on the training data they take as input. In plain terms, this means they can create unique content based on the information they have received.
Now, you might be thinking, “So what?” Well, this is fascinating because it’s remarkably human-like. What’s the point of having artists, musicians, and other creators if artificial intelligence can generate unique content for you? This could pose a real challenge for humanity, potentially leading to job losses and, at the very least, a transformation of the job market. What will all those poor Tik Tok influencers do now?
However even if you’re not a creator, this technology has the potential to impact every aspect of your life. Engineers are already using Generative AI tools like ChatGPT to become better coders, effectively transforming an average engineer into a superhuman(or super villain?).
There are currently two significant recognized uses for content generation: marketing purposes and customer service with the use of chatbots. Thanks to this, your customer service will be even more horrible than before. Businesses should focus on how this technology will affect their day-to-day operations, but understanding its potential shouldn’t stop there.
But, this is just an overview! In the future, we’ll delve deeper into the technical aspects of how Generative AI works and explore the history of Artificial Intelligence. I look forward to taking you on this adventure and welcoming you to CommonerAI, the AI blog for everyone.
